San Antonio's Universal K9 is offering to help improve school safety with trained rescue-turned-security dogs, like Sadie, at almost no charge.
Universal K9 takes dogs from shelters and trains them to sniff-out potential dangers.
While other trained security dogs can cost up to $10,000, rescue dogs like Sadie are being offered to school districts at no cost.
The only fee is the cost of training the dog.
Security concerns at local schools have been on the rise recently. In April, a student was arrested for bringing three loaded guns to Madison High School.
So far, at least one school in the San Antonio has taken up the offer.
