Controversial in some countries but the clear favourite with the audience..... Austrian drag queen Conchita Wurst rose like a phoenix beating contestants from 26 countries to be crowned the winner of this year's Eurovision Song contest in Denmark's capital. And of course she had a message of tolerance. (SOUNDBITE) (English) AUSTRIAN WINNER OF EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2014, CONCHITA WURST, SAYING: (BEGINS OVER AUDIENCE LISTENING TO PRESENTER ASKING QUESTION, CONTINUES OVER VARIOUS OF AUDIENCE CHEERING) PRESENTER ASKING QUESTION: "Do you have any words at all?" WURST: "I do. This night is dedicated to everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom. You know who you are. We are unity and we are unstoppable." The Eurovision song contest was created to foster unity in Europe after World War Two but politics -- as always -- could not be kept out of the judging. And the audience booed Russia every time it was awarded a point, while Ukraine got cheers. The competition is over for another year but discussions have already started about how to celebrate next year's competition in Austria when the song contest celebrates its 60th anniversary.
