A man who said he was God crashed a truck into this Maryland TV news station on Tuesday. Police said the possibly armed man was barricaded inside the WMAR-TV building. But information to the press was purposely delayed. (SOUNDBITE) (English) BALTIMORE COUNTY EXECUTIVE KEVIN KAMENETZ, SAYING: "And in this case, we had a mentally ill suspect who had commandeered a TV station and was watching tv news while police were accessing the situations." "Less than 5 minutes ago, the suspect was taken into custody. There were no injuries." Baltimore County, MD, Police Chief Jim Johnson explained what happened after the suspect jumped into an unattended vehicle and drove to the TV station: (SOUNDBITE) (English) BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD, POLICE CHIEF JIM JOHNSON, SAYING: "(The subject) exited his vehicle, went to the front door of the news station, attempted to violently enter the structure... The subject returned to his vehicle. Then used that vehicle to crash in through the front storm door area. The individual was ranting and raving incoherent statements. It was clear from the very beginning that we were dealing with a mentally -- or emotionally -- disturbed subject." Responding as if the suspect were an active shooter, tactical teams are being credited for how they defused the situation without any injuries. Estimated as 29-years-old, the 5'10" male suspect had a golf club at one point. And police say tools in the stolen truck could have been used as weapons.
