May 14 - Effective immediately, managing editor Dean Baquet will become executive editor of the New York Times Co, replacing Jill Abramson. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Changes at the top at the New York Times. Effective immediately, managing editor Dean Baquet will become executive editor of the company's flagship newspaper. He is succeeding Jill Abramson, who was appointed The New York Times' first woman editor in 2011. In a statement about the unexpected move, New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr, thanked Abramson but did not explain why her tenure was ending.
