May 14 - A 100-carat gem, the Graff Vivid Yellow diamond, sells for $16.3 million USD at auction in Geneva. Sharon Reich reports.

UPSOUND: SOLD! It's a new record. The 100 carat "Graff Vivid Yellow" diamond brings in $16.3 million (USD) at a Sotheby's jewelry sale in Geneva. Chairman of Sotheby's Switzerland, David Bennett. SOUNDBITE: Chairman of Sotheby's Switzerland, David Bennett, saying (English): "The previous record was one that we sold here in 2011 which was known as the 'Sundrop' which made 12.3 million dollars. So it comfortably eclipsed that. It is a fantastic stone, magnificent stone even, known as the 'Graff Vivid Yellow', it's actually in famous diamonds, it's one of the world's famous diamonds, magnificent stone." The total price of the gem, is equivalent to more than $163 thousand (USD) per carat.
