A Cannes event celebrating women in film was attended by some of the industry's top female stars. Oscar-winner Lupita N'yongo was joined by the likes of Naomi Watts at this year's 'Women in Film' event. SOUNDBITE (English) Actor, Naomi Watts, saying: "Evenings like this evening, it's fantastic because it does highlight that women do need to be celebrated in film especially but the very fact that there is such an event shows that there is a big gaping hole. But "The Social Network" actress Rooney Mara questioned some of the roles available to women. SOUNDBITE (English) Actor, Rooney Mara, saying: "It can be challenging to be able to find parts as interesting and dynamic as they are for guys. Sometimes I read a great script and would love to be a part of it but the female part is just an accessory to the guy and I wish there were more parts that I read for men but for women." Cannes has been criticised in the past for not including enough women in the Palme d'Or competition. This year's Jury is led by "The Piano" director Jane Campion. The actress Julianne Moore sees this as a good thing. SOUNDBITE (English) Actor, Julianne Moore, saying: "You know, it's wonderful to have a female head of the jury. Jane Campion is an amazing film maker and I think it's an extraordinary group of people to have on the jury this year." Of the eighteen films in the running for this year's Palme d'Or two are directed by women.
