Flames ripped across California's Camp Pendleton Marine Base on Friday, charring more than 14,000 acres.
It's the latest in a string of wildfires to erupt in the San Diego region over the past few days.
As many as 125,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.
As crews made progress overnight and into Friday morning, several thousand were allowed to return home.
Escondido police say they have arrested two teens on suspicion of arson.
So far, eight houses and an apartment building have been destroyed by the fires.
Police found one badly burned body, but could not confirm if the person was killed by the fire.
