May 22 - A 79-year-old California woman fulfills a lifelong ambition to earn her high school diploma. Vanessa Johnston reports.

At the age of seventy-nine, Alice Walner has fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams - to wear a cap and gown and collect her high school diploma.
Her husband of almost fifty years proudly watched from the audience.
SOUNDBITE (English) ALICE WARLEN'S HUSBAND, SHERMAN WALNER, SAYING:
"She got up early in the morning and late at night and she wouldn't give it up."
Alice said that after raising her five children and working, she finally felt ready to go back to school in her seventies.
SOUNDBITE (English) 79-YEAR-OLD HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE, ALICE WALNER, SAYING:
"I've always wanted my diploma, and of course I quit school, got married, raised kids and worked and now it's time to settle down."
The principal remembers the day he met Alice.
SOUNDBITE (English) TURLOCK ADULT HIGH PRINCIPAL, ISAIAS RUMAYOR JUNIOR:
"I immediately found out she was seventy-nine, and so I was intrigued and impressed and the first question that came to my mind was why?"
Alice started her degree two years ago and took the courses online.
She says it's never too late to learn or go after a dream.
