Fans relieved Sir Paul McCartney to make "complete recovery"

May 23 - A statement on Sir Paul McCartney's website that the former Beatle will make a ''complete recovery'' has come as a relief to his fans. Francis Maguire reports.

Fans were relieved to find out that Sir Paul McCartney will make a complete recovery from a viral infection. The former Beatle was forced to cancel a number of shows in Japan and South Korea and treated in a Tokyo hospital. One fan standing outside the hotel McCartney is believed to be staying at says he's pleased to hear he's getting better. SOUNDBITE: 40-year-old Sir Paul McCartney fan, Shinichi Noguchi, saying (Japanese): "The shock was huge when I heard the two concerts that I bought the tickets for were both cancelled. But it's good to hear that he's recovering from the illness. I'd be happy if he can come to Japan again in the near future." The good news on McCartney's health has many fans hoping he'll go back to Japan some day. SOUNDBITE: 26-year-old Sir Paul McCartney fan, Mio Ando, saying (Japanese): "There's news out that he's going to do something in Japan soon, so I hope I can go to see him." McCartney rarely cancels concerts and released a statement saying he hated to disappoint fans. But it still looks like the U.S. leg of McCartney's tour will go ahead in mid-June.
