Flames continue to lick scorched trees in Arizona. As crews work to control the massive wildfire in Oak Tree Canyon -- a popular recreation spot north of Phoenix. The fire incident commander says they are making progress, but the blaze is still charging forward. (SOUNDBITE) (English) INCIDENT COMMANDER, TONY SCIACCA, SAYING: "The recalculating acres last we called 7,500. I'd speculate we gained at least a 1,000 acres today... And we're 5 percent contained... And remember I just finished telling you the fire is going to grow. So that containment number will actually shrink but we're going to keep it at about 5 percent until we get around it." The so-called Slide Fire has threatened hundreds of Arizona homes. It broke out on Tuesday, prompting scores of people to evacuate their homes along a two-mile stretch in the canyon. All residents can do is hope for its end. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TOURIST JAN MILLER, SAYING: "We're praying rain, or praying for humidity, or praying for something to help all the firefighters." Around 3,000 more residents have been put on notice to be ready to flee their homes if the fire continues to advance.
