Lighting the night with candles, the Isla Vista community mourns the loss of six lives. They were taken during a rampage on Friday night. Authorities say a 22-year-old named Elliot Rodger stabbed three people to death in his apartment before gunning down three more victims. 20-year-old Christopher Martinez was one of them... leaving his father distraught and angry at the system. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FATHER OF VICTIM, RICHARD MARTINEZ, SAYING: "Why did Chris Die? Chris died because of craven irresponsible politicians and the NRA. They talk about gun rights. What about Chris's right to live? When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say 'stop this madness' We don't have to live like this." The family of Elliot Rodger sent their deepest condolences through their lawyer. Who then spoke of the gunman's past. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ATTORNEY FOR RODGER'S FAMILY ALAN SHIFMAN, SAYING: "I do know that there was an incident probably a year and a half ago, uh where he was, he fell from a balcony at a party or was thrown off of it. I think he was probably a victim, from my understanding, of bullying through out his life." "We have to get a better idea of what are the triggers. What's causing this trigger for these people, children, adults, to shamelessly take it out on innocent people?" In a YouTube video, a young man -- who police believe to be Rodger -- bitterly complained of loneliness and rejection by women. In it, he outlines his plan to kill.
