ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A neighbor of Elliot Rodger, the young man who police suspect committed Friday's shooting rampage, described on Sunday (May 25) his reaction to the killing spree. "I got concerned because, you know, when people say they want to kill someone I just figure like that's anger but when they start talking about killing people and then killing themself, when they have no consideration for their own well being that's when you really start worrying this guy is willing to do anything. When they don't even want to stay alive themselves, like it wasn't even about revenge it was literally just taking complete control over everybody's life and his own life," the neighbor who wished not to be identified said. Rodger, 22, is the primary suspect in the attack that killed seven people, including himself. Three of the victims were stabbed to death in his apartment in Isla Vista, California before the shooter got in a car and started firing randomly. The neighbor said he couldn't believe that Rodger was able to kill three of his neighbors. "Never in a million years. When they pulled three bodies out of that room I was in complete shock. He's a tiny guy. I never, ever would have thought he could have taken down three guys with a knife," he said. The neighbor said he reached out to the future shooter after he moved into the apartment complex last year, and that Roger attended parties in the courtyard of the building but would sit alone, looking sullen. "When I was looking through the news reports I figured, come on there has to be one person who knew him. There had to be one person who knew him, talked to him, like has anything to add. One person that like maybe to defend him or say I know what he was going through. Not a single person and that's when it kind of, you know yesterday it felt so surreal I really didn't know how to act but then, yeah, around 9:30, 10:30 when I was looking at all the reports I realized, maybe I'm the only person that tried to reach out to him and that's when I actually started to realize that that's pretty sad." Police say Rodger, who posted a threatening video railing against women online shortly before the rampage began, stalked Isla Vista in his car and on foot, firing on bystanders in a killing spree that ended when he killed himself after a shootout with sheriff's deputies.
