At least 100 rebels were killed in Monday's battle for control of the airport in Donetsk, says a pro-Russian separatist who asked that we not show his face on camera.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian) INJURED REBEL YEVGENY, STANDING WITH HIS BACK TO CAMERA TO HIDE HIS FACE, SAYING:
"We failed because their numbers were greater than ours several fold. We seized the main airport building, but afterwards they started shelling, firing from jet fighters and helicopters."
He also has his own share of injuries and says he was shot in the leg.
A day after Ukrainian forces launched air strikes to drive separatists from the airport, the government says it will press on until "not a single terrorist" is left.
All of the roads leading to the airport are now blocked by trucks, tractors and police and smoke could be seen billowing above the airport area.
