May 29 - Thousands of students at the University of California Santa Barbara take part in memorial ''paddle out'' to remember victims of rampage that left six classmates dead. Vanessa Johnston reports.

With their surfboards, boogie boards, and rafts in hand, students from the University of California Santa Barbara took to the ocean for a memorial "paddle out". A rampage last Friday left six of their classmates dead. Around 2,000 students participated in the memorial, saying it helps them grieve. SOUNDBITE (English) UNIDENTIFIED MALE STUDENT: "Make sure that everyone knows that we're all together as a community and everyone has a very strong part to play in keeping everybody safe and for me personally that's one of the big things that I wanted to accomplish when I heard the shots going off on Friday." Students formed a circle in the ocean, held hands and chanted. SOUNDBITE (English) UNIDENTIFIED MALE STUDENT: "I thought of everybody. Everyone out here, all the victims, the families, everyone and just said a little prayer for them and just went on our way." Many students who are graduating said they wanted this to be their lasting memory of a very sad day.
