Punches thrown in hallway of Florida court

June 3 - A Florida judge and public defender fight, after the lawyer refused the judge's request to waive his client's right to a speedy trial. Jillian Kitchener reports.

Palms were sweaty as the temperature began to rise in this Florida court on Monday. So much so, that a fight broke out between the judge and a public defender. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JUDGE JOHN MURPHY- OFF CAMERA SAYING: "If I had a rock I would throw it at you right now. Stop pissing me off, just sit down. I'll take care of it." That's Judge John Murphy, who was ticked off by Andrew Weinstock's refusal to waive his client's right to a speedy trial. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JUDGE JOHN MURPHY- OFF CAMERA SAYING: "If you want to fight, then let's go out back and I'll just kick your ass." Weinstock followed the judge behind-the-scenes, leaving little to the imagination... (SOUNDBITE) (English) WITNESS AMANDA STROHOFER, SAYING: "They went back in, and started fighting like crazy." Officials say the judge punched Weinstock in the head. Amanda Strohofer, who was waiting to be a witness in court today, says the lawyer had attitude from the get-go. (SOUNDBITE) (English) WITNESS AMANDA STROHOFER, SAYING: "The lawyer was rude. He was extremely rude. He shouldn't have done that." Despite a round of applause, Weinstock's boss said he expected the Florida Supreme Court to take action against the judge.
