Gunshots ring out in New Brunswick, Canada. Authorities said a shootout between a 24-year-old gunman and Canadian police late Wednesday left three officers dead. Now, the hunt for the alleged shooter, who Canadian Police have identified as Justin Bourque -- is mounting, with the suspect still at large. Meanwhile, officers are mourning their losses. Commanding Officer Roger Brown. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE COMMANDING OFFICER ROGER BROWN SAYING: "This is perhaps the darkest day in the RCMP in New Brunswick. The RCMP family has lost three colleagues and three friends. Two officers are in the hospital and undergoing surgery. I met with families this morning prior to coming here and as you can imagine they are hurting. There is no way to describe the level of hurt." Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, taking part in the G7 in Brussels, offered his condolences. (SOUNDBITE) (French) PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA STEPHEN HARPER SAYING: "Obviously before I talk about G7 business I just would like to express all of our sorrow the deaths of the three members of the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) killed last night in New Brunswick in the performance of their duties." Authorities say Bourque is armed and dangerous, and have asked residents to stay in their homes. They're also urging residents not to post locations of police on social media, as that may help the shooter locate police. So far -- no official word on what may have triggered the shootout.
