A rare five-alarm fire leaves 23 firefighters injured on New York's Staten Island.
It broke out in this apartment house early Thursday.
It was so intense, one desperate man, trapped inside, reportedly dropped his two young children out the second story window into this neighbor's arms.
SOUNDBITE: NEIGHBOR ANTHONY DISIMONE SAYING:
"You panic at first. It's a normal human trait. You just try and focus on what's important. Just like if I was up there with my child he would have done the same for me. You really don't think to much you just act."
Some 200 firefighters battled the fire, which also injured 11 civilians.
Officials say the blaze destroyed the apartment house and spread to neighboring buildings.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
