Statues from all over the world came to life in Bucharest's biggest park as part of the city's three-day living statue festival.
Forty-three performers, more often seen as a staple of city sidewalks, took over the park showcasing their composure and wit to the visiting public.
SOUNDBITE: Cosmin Cretu, performer, saying (Romanian):
"There are probably a lot of people in the West who are familiar with people standing motionless in costume, with their faces painted the same color. The term begging is a bit harsh, but over there, they're trying to make some money. Here it's about telling a story. It isn't just motionless characters taking photos with people, it's about the spectacle."
Living statues represent one of the most concentrated forms of street theater, and it's a chance for every actor to hone their skills in mime and concentration for the stage.
