Footage posted on a social media website purports to show Iraqi soldiers leaving their base in Tikrit as prisoners of insurgents. The video couldn't be independently verified by Reuters. Security sources said two more towns fell to the insurgents during Thursday night after the Iraqi military abandoned their posts. Secretary of State John Kerry says Washington's deeply concerned. (SOUNDBITE)(English) U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY SAYING: "I know the President of the United States is prepared to make key decisions in short order and as he made clear earlier options are on the table right now." NATO's secretary-general is condemning the violence and seizure of dozens of Turkish hostages but says it's not NATO's fight. (SOUNDBITE)(English) NATO SECRETARY-GENERAL ANDERS FOGH RASMUSSEN SAYING: "I don't see a role for NATO in Iraq but of course we follow the situation closely." The United nations Security Council met behind closed doors to discuss the crisis. (SOUNDBITE)(English) VITALY CHURKIN, RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE U.N AND SECURITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT FOR JUNE, SAYING: "The members of the Security Council expressed their unanimous support to the government and people of Iraq in their fight against terrorism." Sunni Muslim insurgents have captured several towns and cities since Tuesday including Mosul. Thousands are fleeing the city, Iraq's second-largest, now in the grip of fighting, and without power or water. The fall of Mosul's a bitter blow to attempts to halt the militants' rapid advance against the Shi'ite-led government in Baghdad.
