June 18 - Protesters outside Ukraine's parliament call for snap elections to replace the lawmakers they say are allowing the country to descend into chaos. Natalie Thomas reports.

They've been in power for just a matter of weeks, but already Ukrainian leaders are facing calls to step down Protesters outside Kiev's parliament building on Tuesday say law makers are allowing their country to descend into chaos (SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) NIKITA, PROTESTER, SAYING: "People gathered here today to demand early parliamentary elections. I believe that what is going in our country in unacceptable. We elected a pro-European president, but there was no and is no pro-European parliament in Ukraine. People are dying in Maidan and in the east, and no measures are taken. Deputies in parliament are just sitting there, wasting their time and earning money." President Petro Poroshenko promised to bring a rapid end to uprisings in parts of the east But the army has suffered a series of setbacks. At the weekend a military transport plane was shot down by rebels killing 49 soldiers. On Tuesday amateur footage showed an explosion at a Ukrainian pipeline The government says it is investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism
