Hong Nguyen was jogging when she noticed something in the grass --- just about the same time she heard what sounded like a crying infant.
The object turned out to be a car-seat and the crying.... eight-month-old Genesis Haley.
Nguyen called authorities right away.
(SOUNDBITE) JOGGER HONG NGUYEN SAYING:
"That's my duty as a human being to do that. I can't believe. It also made me scared when I see that situation…"
It turns out police were already looking for baby Genesis.
The night before the baby's mother had driven to a gas station and ran into buy a soda -- leaving Genesis in the car.
Soon after, a thief took the car -- with the baby still inside.
Police recovered this car with the license plates stripped.
They say the person responsible for the carjacking is still at large.
Baby Genesis was taken to the hospital.
Authorities say she appears to be okay.
