Thai police arrest Russian man wanted for murder

Thai police arrest a Russian man who is wanted by Interpol in connection to murder and over 60 cases of kidnapping. Natalie Thomas reports.

Thai police bring in Alexander Mastusov He is accused in Russia of organizing what was once one of the most dangerous criminal gangs in the country Thai police say he was involved in over 60 kidnappings, as well as murdering four people in 1996 They believe Matusov had been travelling in and out of Thailand and its neighbouring countries using fake passports for several years They finally caught up with him in a supermarket about 37 miles east of Bangkok (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) VICE-CONSUL OF THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN THAILAND, ALEXEY FALUNIN, SAYING: "This has been one of the biggest arrests in recent years because Alexander Matusov is accused in Russia of organizing one of the most dangerous criminal gangs operating from mid-1990's till 2008 or 2009. During that time the gang was responsible for about 60 murders." Thai authorities said they are preparing to extradite Matusov back to Russia.
