The cast of "Begin Again" step out of their comfort zones for a new movie filled with love, comedy and music.
The quartet Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, James Corden and Adam Levine promoted the flick in New York.
Knightley says director John Carney assembled a stellar cast.
SOUNDBITE: Keira Knightley, actress, saying (English):
"He basically got like a load of us, you know, he got the actors to sing and the singers to act. And just sort of shoved us into the arena and kept his fingers crossed I think. And I think you know, it has turned out really well, I'm really happy with it."
James Corden says Carney was a great director, who helped bring out creative chemistry on the set.
SOUNDBITE: James Corden, actor, saying (English):
"So much of the scenes that have made it to the final cut of the film, the scenes of Keira and I particularly. So many of them are sort of loosely improvised, slightly. We'd do one that's on the script and then he'd say 'now just try one, do whatever you think.' But what he does is he gives you a great confidence that you can - that you're not going to fail."
Levine, whose day job is the front man for Maroon 5 makes his feature film debut in the movie.
SOUNDBITE: Adam Levine, actor, saying (English):
"Doing this was just - as far as a first experience goes it was a dream. I couldn't have asked for a better cast, a better director, a better situation, a better subject matter that I kind of knew something about. I mean it was a dream. It still is a dream, this is really surreal and I'm really loving it."
And if you think "Begin Again" is your typical romantic comedy, Ruffalo says think again.
SOUNDBITE: Mark Ruffalo, actor, saying (English):
"This movie is actually romantic and it's comedic unlike most romantic comedies. And so, he knows how to hit the right buttons I think."
The film is scheduled to hit New York and Los Angeles theaters on June 27 with a wider release on July 2.
