A mass shooting early Sunday on Bourbon Street sent nine people to the hospital.
Bullets ricocheted across this popular New Orleans haunt around 2:45 am local time.
Police say two armed men got into a fight and opened fire one each other, injuring the nine.
Earlier, witnesses had said one angry man shot at another man, before turning his gun on a crowd.
SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED WITNESS SAYING:
"He seemed pissed off at some dude, pulled the gun out, started shooting the guy, and then turn around on the crowd and started shooting at us."
Seven of the victims were in stable condition and one woman was listed as critical.
The remaining victims' condition wasn't available.
Police were looking for the two gunman, neither of whom appeared hurt.
Investigators continued processing the crime scene well into the late morning.
They're reviewing surveillance tapes and cell phone videos of the shooting.
