Poroshenko ends Ukraine ceasefire

Ukrainian President Poroshenko said on Tuesday government forces would renew offensive operations against pro-Russian rebels and ''free our lands.'' Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Just hours after a ceasefire expired in Ukraine, on his website President Petro Poroshenko vows to renew operations against pro-Russian rebels Tuesday. UKRANIAN PRESIDENT PETRO POROSHENKO, SAYING (Ukranian): "We will attack and free our land. Non-extension of ceasefire plan is our response to terrorists, rebels and marauders, to all those who torture civilians, who paralyze the country's economy, who wreck payment of salaries, pensions, scholarships, who explode railway station and destroy water pipes, who deprive people of normal, peaceful life." Kiev had accused rebels of numerous violations of the ceasefire. A statement tweeted by the Foreign Ministry said 27 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed since the ceasefire began June 20.
