Incompetent to stand trial. That was the assessment two doctors gave on Wednesday for one of the two 12-year-old girls accused of stabbing a classmate in Wisconsin. The girls allegedly did the stabbing to please the fictional online horror character, the Slenderman. The other accused girl also made a brief court appearance on Wednesday. Both girls are charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Wisconsin law requires attempted homicide cases for juveniles to start in adult court, if the defendant is at least 10 years old. Now, prosecutors want more mental evaluations done before the JUDGE decides if the girls are truly incompetent to stand trial. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED PROSECUTOR SAYING: "...an evaluation for possible mental disease or defect." But defense attorney's for the girl in Wednesday's hearing say that's not necessary. They're hoping to move charges against her to juvenile court. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED DEFENSE ATTORNEY SAYING: "We haven't entered a not guilty plea, by reason of mental disease or defect plea. We haven't entered any plea in this case because the case hasn't gotten to preliminary hearing yet." Authorities say the girls plotted the killing for months. They allegedly stabbed their victim 19 times in a wooded park area after a sleepover. Doctors say they missed a major heart artery by just a millimeter. The third girl survived the attack and continues to recover at home.
