ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION).
STORY: The skies over Washington, D.C., were lit up in colours of red, white and blue on Friday (July 4) as the nation's capitol marked the Fourth of July holiday with a grand fireworks display.
Thousands of people started gathering near the Washington Monument hours earlier to secure a spot from which to watch the annual spectacle and to enjoy a televised concert that preceded it.
The crowd reached as far back as the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to watch the fireworks that started at sunset and lasted approximately 20 minutes.
