Strong winds and rain from Hurricane Arthur pound the southern New England coast Friday night. The weakened storm swept by Massachusetts before it was downgraded to a tropical storm. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT, SAYING: "It looks fairly tame. We were hoping for something more apocalyptic, honestly." The wet weather not keeping vacationers from heading across the bridge to Cape Cod, a popular destination for the Fourth of July. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT, SAYING: "People come here and they don't care what happens, they go shopping, they go sightseeing, they go swimming, they love Cape Cod." Hurricane Arthur, the first hurricane to hit the U.S. since Superstorm Sandy, caused minimal damage in North Carolina where it made landfall.
