To mark its 40th anniversary, Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park has introduced the tallest drop ride in the world: Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom.
Three gondolas with eight riders are sent up 41 stories - pause - and then plunge in a free fall for a life-shortening 10 seconds, dropping as fast as 90 miles per hour (145 kilometers per hour).
Six Flags president, John Fitzgerald.
"Zumanjaro -- you are picked up and brought over 400 feet in the air. Now, I don't know if anybody can really imagine what that's really like to look down from 400 feet with just a harness holding you in place. You get some fantastic views, but most folks have their eyes closed so they don't get to take them in!
Soaring Zumanjaro is taller than both Big Ben and the Statute of Liberty.
From the heights of the towering new ride one can see Philidelphia's skyscrapers over 50 miles away.
