The joy of soccer came crashing down in Brazil on Tuesday. Excitement and anxiety for the World Cup semifinals gave way to disappointment and despair. After a 7-1 loss to Germany, Brazil is out, leaving nothing but tears for the fans. In Sao Paulo, Brazilian fans felt dejected. (SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) BRAZIL FAN, OCTAVIO PINTO DA SILVA, SAYING: "I think the Brazilian team lost all motivation without Neymar. His presence at the left corner of the pitch is essential for Brazil. Brazil felt the lack of the magic Neymar brings. Brazil needs Neymar. Without him, Brazil is nothing." Germany struck early and fast, scoring five goals in 18 first-half minutes. It was the biggest ever victory in a World Cup semifinal. In Rio de Janeiro, Germany fans celebated their lopsided win at an event organized by the German Consulate. One fan said she had split allegiances. (SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) BRAZIL FAN, CURRENTLY LIVING IN GERMANY, ITALIA, SAYING: "Living in Germany, what can I say, I am divided between the two countries, Germany and Brazil. Of course we were cheering for Brazil, but Germany won. That's fine. We're still going to celebrate. It's half my country." Germany will face the winner of the other semifinal between Argentina and the Netherlands.
