Severe storms kill several people in New York, Maryland

A boy is killed in Maryland from a falling tree and at least four people are dead after severe storms hit upstate New York. Linda So reports.

The storms proved deadly. High winds and torrential rains pounded upstate New York killing at least four people Tuesday. SOUNDBITE: JOSHUA NELSON, MARION RESIDENT, SAYING: "It was insane. I looked out the window and just saw blankets of rain and trees falling everywhere." The four victims were killed in Smithfield, New York when severe thunderstorms hit the area. Several homes were destroyed. And in Maryland, a boy was killed and six others hurt from a falling tree at a summer camp. SOUNDBITE: CAMP DIRECTOR JON BISSETT, SAYING: "Obviously, it's pretty traumatic for the campers because a lot of them were there obviously when it happened." Two tornadoes touched down in Ohio uprooting plenty of trees. SOUNDBITE: WARD JAMESON, MEDINA RESIDENT, SAYING: "I realized it was a tornado shut my brush down and said get in the basement." The National Weather Service will be back in New York to determine if it was actually a twister that caused the damage there.
