Laughter is the best medicine, the saying goes.
And this laughter yoga class held at Hong Kong Ocean Park is capitalizing on that idea by encouraging attendants to laugh away their stress by doing silly and short exercises.
The claim is actually backed by the Centers for Disease Control.
Humor, they say, can boost the immune system and lower blood pressure.
And the best part -- your body cannot tell the difference between real and fake laughter says Veena Dansinghani of "Inspire 2 Aspire" that offers the class.
SOUNDBITE: Partner Of Consulting Firm, 'Inspire To Aspire', Veena Dansinghani, saying (English):
"The whole concept of laughter yoga is that you fake it until you make it. Your body doesn't recognise, or you mind doesn't recognise if you're laughing for a reason or not."
Dansinghani says ten minutes of laughter workout is equivalent to 30 minutes of cardio.
And what's more, it actually makes participants feel happy.
SOUNDBITE: Ocean Park Learning and Development Manager, Ruby Yu, saying (English):
"It's remarkable, we've seen remarkable results. We see many happy faces."
SOUNDBITE: Ocean Park Children's Entertainer, Isaac Cheng, 24, saying (English):
"When I laugh I feel the energy, I feel a positive energy surrounding the whole room. And also I feel the (e)motion become more relaxed and better."
And with 600 clubs in 60 countries Laughter Yoga is a serious funny business.
