ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) After days of discussing the escalating violence between the Israelis and Palestinians, the United Nations Security Council issued a statement calling for a ceasefire and expressing serious concern for the welfare of civilians on both sides. United Nations Security Council President Rwandan Ambassador Eugene Richard Gasana also expressed support for "the resumption of the direct negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians with the aim of achieving a comprehensive peace agreement based on the two states solution." In response, the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations said they will wait to see if Israel stops the aggression otherwise they are ready to act. "If the Israeli side is not going to listen from this position from the security council, and from all political groups there will be more activities, including in the Security Council, including in the possibility of draft resolution to be put for acting on it." he said. The most recent hostilities were sparked three weeks ago by the kidnapping of three Jewish students in the occupied West Bank, who were later found dead. Then a teenage Palestinian was kidnapped and his burned body found in a Jerusalem forest.
