A group of politicians express support for Israel and its right to use force as pro-Palestinian protesters hold counter demonstration nearby. Linda So reports.

Pro-Palestinian supporters gather in New York City Monday to make their voices heard. The demonstrators protesting against a group of politicians who gathered at City Hall to express their support for Israel and its use of force against Gaza. SOUNDBITE: CONGRESSMAN ELIOT ENGEL, RANKING MEMBER OF HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, SAYING: "We stand here to say that Democrats and Republicans all across the political spectrum support the U.S.-Israel alliance. And we're here as New Yorkers to say no to terrorism, no to Hamas." The Israeli ambassador says Israel is ready to use more force if needed. SOUNDBITE: AMBASSADOR IDO AHARONI, ISRAEL'S CONSUL GENERAL IN NEW YORK, SAYING: "They're inflicting damage to Israel's tourism and to Israel's trade that could be estimated in the billions." Police stood nearby as pro-Palestinian protesters tried to disrupt the news conference with chanting. As the crowd grew louder, they spoke about their opposition to Zionism. SOUNDBITE: PROTESTER ABRAM AMET SAYING: "The Zionist regime is comparable to the Nazis and I wish, I just wish there was a way it could be reverted back to the way it was 50 years ago." Palestinian militants resumed rocket attacks on Monday while Israel kept up its airstrikes despite growing international pressure for a ceasefire.
