Surf's up for these dogs at Imperial Beach in California for the ninth annual Petco Surf Dog Competition. Some owners embraced the silly side of the contest while others had their dogs surf au naturel. Winner for the second year running was boxer, Hanzo, who upped the "cool" factor by briefly hanging five. Owner Eric Felland says the secret to his pet's success is enthusiasm. SOUNDBITE: Eric Felland, owner of winning dog, Hanzo, saying (English): "He loves what he does, and people really see that he really loves to surf." And even though some owners take their dogs' surfing prospects really seriously ... SOUNDBITE: Kay Deloache, dog owner, saying (English): "He has a professional surf coach." Others say it's just for fun. SOUNDBITE: James Wall, dog owner, saying (English) : "If she didn't like it she wouldn't be out here putting up with it." And just like the two-legged version, dog surfing is sometimes just about sitting around waiting for the perfect wave.
