The ceasefire is over --- Israel resumes its air strikes on Gaza Wednesday ----the truce brokered by Egypt a day earlier, now a distant memory. Ashkelon, a previously hit town in southern Israel, came under attack. Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman and his Norweigan counterpart were visiting the area when it happened. Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende. NORWEGIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, BORGE BRENDE, SAYING: SOUNDBITE) (English) NORWEGIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, BORGE BRENDE, SAYING: "During the luncheon I had with Foreign Minister Liberman, we heard some rockets and we had to go into safety." Lieberman accused Hamas of ignoring the ceasefire completely. SOUNDBITE: Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman saying: "Despite this proposal, of course they continue to fire missiles on Israel. I think that it's our basic right. It's not a right it's a basic obligation to protect our citizens, our people. To provide the safety and security for our citizens." In the U.S., Hillary Clinton, a likely contender for White House in 2016, weighed in. SOUNDBITE: Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saying: "The Israelis are absolutely right in saying that they can't just sit there and let rockets rain down. They have a missile defense which is working well, but that can't be certain and now there are drones apparently that are being launched from Gaza." Clinton added that officials in Gaza have made it more difficult for locals. SOUNDBITE: Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saying: "I would argue first and foremost by leadership that doesn't really want to make the situation too much better because that gives them a lot of leverage over the poor people in Gaza." Hundreds turned out for a funeral procession --- a nearly daily event here as the military offensive moved into its eighth day and as the death toll surpassed 200.
