Homes are turned inside out.
Israeli tanks press on through Gaza Saturday -- expanding their ground offensive after 11 days of fighting.
The military says they're concentrating on a buffer zone 1.5 miles wide.
...Looking to destroy concealed rocket launch pads and tunnels dug by Hamas militants.
(SOUNDBITE) (Hebrew) ISRAELI CHIEF OF STAFF, BENNY GANTZ, SAYING:
"Hamas and other terror organizations [in Gaza] have been hit hard, painfully, and extensively. After years of building up their manpower, rocket arsenal, terrorist capabilities, and their tunnels. Until now, all have been shattered by the capabilities of Israel and the IDF."
Hamas says its fighters used a tunnel to slip into Israel Saturday. And Israel confirmed they killed one militant, repelled the rest. Four soldiers were wounded.
This, on the same day that at least 18 rockets were launched into Israel. One man was killed and four people were injured, including two children.
Clouds of smoke hang above Gaza, as air strikes continue to pummel the area.
Palestinian authorities now say the death toll has risen above 300.
And wounded civilians continue streaming into overloaded hospitals.
