Smoke billows in a district northeast of Baghdad after Iraqi forces say they've wrestled back a group of Islamist insurgents there. Heavy fighting lasted for more than 14 hours. A military spokesman says they were able to fight back militants who they said were part of the group known as the Islamic State. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MILITARY SPOKESMAN MAJOR-GENERAL QASSIM ATTA, SAYING: "Security forces have managed to completely clear Al-Harouniya district and the area is now under the control of the security forces which have carried out a number of attacks over the past 48 hours and managed to clear the area, killing at least 59 terrorists and destroying five different vehicles." A child was killed on Saturday in an Iraqi-led air strike in the northern province of Salahuddin, doctors there said. One resident described his ordeal. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED MAN WITH CLOTHES SPLATTERED WITH BLOOD, SAYING: "We were gathering at a grocery store when a plane hovered above. We ran to the other side of the street for shelter, but the plane started to bomb the houses, people and children. Some of the people were killed while others were wounded. There are no gunmen, no nothing in the area." Military sources weren't immediately available for comment on the shelling, but government forces have been battling insurgents led by the Islamic State in the area.
