Looters target wildfire victims

After a massive wildfire tears through parts of Washington state, residents now have to worry about looters. Linda So reports.

As if losing your home in a wildfire isn't enough, people in Washington state now have to deal with looters. SOUNDBITE: MARK MILLER, PATEROS RESIDENT, SAYING: "The place was being overrun with people. They would stop and go down there looking for things." Mark Miller who lives in the town of Pateros had to chase off looters looking through his friend's burned belongings. SOUNDBITE: MARK MILLER, PATEROS RESIDENT, SAYING: "You don't even get a chance to go through what's salvageable; they're trying to find it first." Residents have put up signs to try to keep looters out. SOUNDBITE: MARK MILLER, PATEROS RESIDENT, SAYING: "A friend of mine up the valley, they fought fire all night. They're sitting exhausted drinking water and a truck pulls up into their driveway. They turn on a flashlight and they speed off." Hundreds of homes have been destroyed in what's now being called the largest wildfire in the history of Washington state.
