Aid workers slaughtered in Afghanistan

Two Finnish aid workers were shot dead on Thursday in Afghanistan's western city of Herat, officials said. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Two Finnish aid workers shot dead Thursday in western Afghanistan. Two gunmen on a motorbike approached the aid workers' taxi in Herat and opened fire. (SOUNDBITE) ( Dari) DOCTOR AT HERAT HOSPITAL, MOHAMMAD RAFIQ SHERZAI SAYING: "The woman came to shop in the city with her colleague. Unknown gunmen on a motorbike opened fired and killed them while they were inside a taxi." Finland's foreign ministry said the women were Finnish. The Afghan Interior Ministry said the two worked for International Assistance Mission, a Christian group that has worked in Afghanistan since 1966.
