China's 10th typhoon this year swept into eastern and south-eastern parts on Wednesday.
Typhoon Matmo brought with it up to 200 millimetres of rainfall and winds up to 72 kilometres an hour.
At least one person's been killed and three more are missing.
Several provinces have suffered severe flooding.
In Jiujiang City nearly 90 houses were destroyed.
In Fujian province grape growers were racing against time to salvage what was left of their crops.
In the south-east of the province nearly 300, 000 people were evacuated.
The typhoon was later reported to be heading north-east threatening further destruction on the way.
