Scarlett Johansson headlines the sci-fi thriller "Lucy."
The film is set to win the weekend box office, possibly earning an estimated $35 million from Friday to Sunday.
Johansson plays a woman who finds extraordinary powers after an experiment gone bad gives her 100% use of her brain.
The number two spot at the box office goes to the Dwayne Johnson flick "Hercules."
It's expected to take in $21.5 million.
RottenTomatoes.com has given the film mostly positive reviews.
Variety said the mythical Greek strongman gets "a refreshingly human spin" here and calls it a "solidly entertaining popcorn pic."
Coming in at number three this week is "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes."
The latest installment in the "Planet of the Apes" franchise shows humans and apes in a decisive battle for Earth domination.
The film's expected to add another $20 million dollars onto the $261 million it's already hauled in worldwide.
But if you're looking for a break from all this action-adventure , there's the Diane Keaton / Michael Douglas romantic comedy, "And So It Goes".
It's appealing to an older audience but, sadly, many critics are calling the film dead on arrival.
Despite its star power, the LA Times says "And So It Goes" is -- quote -- "about as engaging as a drooling nap on a porch."
