The unrest in Israel and Gaza has triggered protests thousands of miles away in cities across the U.S. Including in Chicago. (Protesters chanting) More than a thousand people showed up here over the weekend to show their support for Palestinians -- that's about as many Palestinians as have been killed in the 20-day long conflict. They marched to Federal Plaza under the watchful eye of Chicago police -- calling for an end to Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip. SOUNDBITE: HATEM ABUDAYYEH, CHICAGO COALITION FOR JUSTICE IN PALESTINE, SAYING: "They're living in an open-air prison, so what Palestinians are saying is you must, you must end that siege and you must end your killing of Palestinian people and you must end your occupation." Some of the fighting did subside in Gaza late Sunday. This, after Hamas militants said they back a 24-hour humanitarian truce. But no sign yet of any comprehensive deal to end the conflict.
