Security was tight as the faithful crowded mosques for Eid prayers.
Karachi is on alert, amid fears of a possible attack by Taliban militants -- angered by the on-going military offensive in their North Waziristan stronghold.
But here, worshippers celebrating the end of Ramadan, seemed unconcerned.
(SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) KARACHI SHOP OWNER, MOHAMMAD SADIQ, SAYING:
"The security arrangements were really very impressive. Thank Allah, we offered our prayers without any fear or security concerns. "
With roads blocked in the surrounding area, familes and children felt free to celebrate.
Overall, for worshippers in an often turbulent city, it was a day of peace.
