For participants of this 5k run in Moscow, a casual run in the park turned into a living nightmare.
The 500 runners were ambushed by zombies who chased them down for their "life" ribbons attached to their clothes.
Before the start of the race zombie runners were made-up thoroughly to add to the suspense, explained one participant.
SOUNDBITE: Participant Olga, saying (Russian)
"People lack some kind of drive, some fun. And this is the occasion to fool around, to exit their offices, exit their gyms, come to the forest, get dirty, laugh, play some games.
And getting chased by zombies sure is an incentive to run.
SOUNDBITE: Participant Dmytry, saying (Russian)
"Wonderful! Marvelous! Very positive and there are heaps of monsters - and the desire to win."
While it was the first time ever that zombies invaded the Russian capital, "zombie walks" are regularly held in many countries across the globe since its first inception in the U.S. over a decade ago.
