It's party time for San Diego Zoo's giant panda Xiao Liwu who turned two-years-old. The bright young fellow, whose name means "little gift," received a giant icy birthday cake layered with apple, carrot, and bamboo that took weeks to complete. It was worth it for the zoo's darling cub, the youngest of the three resident giant pandas, according to keepers. SOUNDBITE: Jennifer Becerra, Senior Keeper At The San Diego Zoo, saying (English) "Xiao Liwu is a special cub. That means 'little gift,' and we affectionately call him 'Mr. Wu,' we shorten his name and make it a little easier, but he's a very smart cub, he's very independent, and he's brave." The male cub was born at the zoo in 2012, to mother Bai Yun and father Gao Gao. He currently weighs 88 pounds or 40 kilograms, but is expected to weigh three times as much when fully grown . While Xiao Liwu was born at the zoo, both he and his parents are on loan from the People's Republic of China for conservation studies of this endangered species.
