First he asked us to wake him up and then he told us he is the man and now Aloe Blacc wants to inspire with his first major label full-length album, "Lift Your Spirit." The 35-year-old launched his solo career in 2003 and had moderate success until his breakthrough hit last year with Swedish DJ Aviccii "Wake Me Up." SOUNDBITE: Aloe Blacc, singer, saying (English): "The past decade has been fantastic. There is no way I could have imagined being an artist who is on television, on the radio with people around the world singing my songs. I was happy with the few niche followers that I had as a hip-hop artist.." The California native began his career as a rapper but decided to switch to singing, however he is still unsure about it. SOUNDBITE: Aloe Blacc, singer, saying (English): "I still don't know that I can sing. I guess there is confirmation from the fans out there that love what I do. But honestly I just figured out how to use my voice in a way that makes sense for me and the stories that I tell." And after finding world-wide success Blacc revealed his biggest compliment has come in a small package. SOUNDBITE: Aloe Blacc, singer, saying (English): "The best compliment I've received on the album honestly is from my one year old daughter. Who whenever she hears the songs play, she just learned to walk, but she'll stand up and start to dance and clap her hands and smile the biggest smile that you've ever seen." Next up for Blacc will be an appearance in the new James Brown biopic "Get On Up" as a member of the Famous Flames. In August Blacc will perform at music festivals all over the world including the UK, Spain and Germany.
