Jonnie Williams, the prosecution's key witness is back on the stand in the corruption trial of former Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell and his wife.
Under cross examination, the defense questioned his credibility pointing out apparent inconsistencies in what he told federal investigators.
The businessman has been granted immunity in exchange for his testimony.
Williams says he gave McDonnell and his wife Maureen $165,000 in gifts and loans to win their support for his nutritional supplement business.
The former governor had this to say as he arrived for day five of his trial.
SOUNDBITE: FORMER VIRGINIA GOVERNOR BOB MCDONNELL, SAYING:
"It's a tough time for me and my family, we're just looking forward for the truth to come out as the case goes on."
In opening statements, defense attorneys said Maureen McDonnell had a crush on Williams and sought out his company because she needed attention.
If convicted, McDonnell and his wife could face decades in prison.
