Anxious moments for passengers on board a Qatar Airways flight that was escorted into Manchester airport by British fighter jets.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) PASSENGER, JOSH HARTLEY, SAYING:
"It was just terrifying really that's all I could feel. It was just felt terrifying."
(SOUNDBITE) (English) PASSENGER AURANG ZEB, SAYING:
"I thought something going wrong and maybe a bomb threat or whatever cos we saw a jet flying so near. It went to the other side and came back again and I thought something wrong somewhere."
The airforce scrambled two fighter jets to escort flight QR23 after receiving a warning from the pilot that there may be a bomb on board.
For many on the flight from Doha, this view was the first indication something might be wrong (AMVID). Dispatching fighter jets has become standard operating procedure for handling these sort of threats.
The flight landed at Manchester airport without incident. Police have arrested a male passenger on suspicon of making a false bomb threat.
