These are the photographs that have sparked a nationwide outrage in India. The works by photographer Raj Shetye depict sexual harassment scenes aboard a bus, for many Indians too similar to the gruesome gang rape incident of 2012 that stunned the country. The 23-year-old victim and a male friend were returning home on a bus when six men beat them with metal rods and repeatedly raped the woman. Her injures were so severe that she later died in hospital. Sounds of rage were heard across the country following the incident as thousands took to the streets in protest. The girl's parents, often referred to as "Nirbhaya" meaning "fearless", expressed their disgust about the glamorized shoot. SOUNDBITE: Father Of New Delhi Bus Rape Victim, saying (Hindi) "They should be ashamed of it. What is he trying to show to the juveniles and youths of the nation? He should be punished. I will appeal the Supreme Court to punish him and the photo shoot should be banned." Shetye says that the shoot represents the situation of women in the country and denies that it's based on the tragic death of Nirbhaya.
